Haiti, July 5-6, 2012

It’s so good to be back down and seeing Harry. I guess all things come at a price. My flight took me away from my family at 5:30 P.M. Thursday and put me JFK Airport at 12:15 A.M. Friday morning. It just wasn’t worth dealing with a hotel when I had to fly out in about 6 hours. So needless to say I stayed in the airport for the night. I did manage to get about 2 hours of sleep on the floor lying on my bags. Small price to pay considering what is ahead.

When I reached Port au Prince I was met by Harry and then Brian “Cowboy” Ferguson and his compadre Haze. I felt compelled to call him Purple. He is a sophomore in college so he totally could not appreciate it. All is good though he’s a pretty cool young dude. These are the guys that will help us to install the water purification system at the school.

We left the airport and headed for the school. Harry had purchased a Chatodo  a few days earlier and had it delivered to the school. A Chatodo is a big black plastic container you see on roofs for gravity feed water systems, common around Haiti. This will be used to hold the fresh drinking water after the purification process. We are so stoked and blessed to receive this $2000.00 system.

It was fairly easy to install and I got a crash course in chlorine water systems installation. Crazy rig but it works.

We filled up the shadodo, set up the system and let it start doing it’s thing. Totally amazing what two table spoons of salt and some real smart people can do. Two table spoons of salt will purify thousands of gallons of water.

Start to finish we had less than 6 hours on the ground in Haiti and when we left the school we had 300 gallons of very fresh water.

This water will be available to the school, church and community. It is awesome how God continues to ramp things up for GMSM to minister to His people. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
